Current Priorities of The CWWHI:
Handheld Ultrasound Machine
The CWWHI would like to purchase a Sonosite Micromaxx Ultrasound system capable of performing high resolution cardiac, intraabdominal, intrathoracic, intracranial, and vascular ultrasounds. The system retails for Rs 25 lakhs ($50,000) in India. However, the CEO of Sonosite, India is willing to let the Shaktishifa Health Foundation/India Health Foundation purchase this system for the company's cost price of Rupees 10 lakhs ($20,000), along with two probes. An additional $2,000 or Rs one lakh will have to be paid to the Indian Government as import duty. This portable system will allow for rapid screenings and diagnosis of patients who are unable to afford expensive diagnostic tests. The handheld unit also allows for greater mobility & flexibility, promising greater care to those who cannot reach the clinic.
Social Worker
The Lambada community near Hyderabad has one of the highest rates of female
foeticide/infanticide. This year, the India Health Foundaion and The CWWHI has funded a social worker from the Gramya Organization who is empowering women to say no when asked to kill their girl babies.
CWWHI/India Health Foundation Board of Directors Fund
The India Health Foundation Board of Directors are committed stewards of the generous
contributions designated to The CWWHI and carefully direct funding to the clinic as
needs arise.
